LEONARDO DA VINCI
an online, interactive C1 / C2 level, advanced Italian language course focusing on the works and life of Leonardo da Vinci, taught in Italian by Professor Daniele Macuglia, Peking University
This interactive course will provide students with an introduction to the life and major works of Leonardo da Vinci. We will read examples of primary and secondary resources, placing them squarely in the context of the Italian Renaissance. Students will learn about Leonardo as an artist and engineer, while also developing familiarity with his anatomical studies. We will analyze significant inventions and designs of war machines and flying machines. Classes will be highly interactive, offering C1- and C2-level students the opportunity to hone their language skills by working on stimulating, topical material.
Historian and postdoctoral fellow at the University of Chicago, Daniele Macuglia earned his Ph.D. from the University of Chicago and taught at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago, at the Newberry Library, and at his alma mater.
